EXOdis PC540A is an anionic polymer dispersant of hydrophobic nature intended for paint products. The commercial product is available in the form of a clear or lightly murky 25% aqueous solution of light yellow ammonium salt. In comparison with other dispersants of hydrophobic nature, EXOdis PC540A has similar dispersing properties, in particular with titanium white and mineral fillers.
The application of the product allows pigment to be efficiently introduced into the system. It is due to significant decrease of the viscosity of aqueous suspensions of titanium white and mineral fillers. The product constitutes basic dispersant in the formulations of waterborne decorative paints and anticorrosive paints for urban environments. Even small concentrations of EXOdis PC540A enable paint products to gain perfect stability.
Hydrophobic groups present in the product significantly improve water resistance of paint products. The dispersant used in the formulation of decorative paints instead of the usually applied polyacrylic acid sodium salt increases resistance of the product to wet scrubbing. Therefore, it is possible to obtain a better abrasion class without the necessity to increase the amount of adhesive material or titanium white.
Hydrophobic properties of the product also increase the resistance of formulations to atmospheric conditions and corrosives. Therefore, the product is also recommended for facade paints and anticorrosion products. Additionally, ammonium salt may also provide better anticorrosive resistance of the created coating than the product in the form of sodium salt (EXOdis PC540).
Being the main dispersant in white paints, EXOdis PC540A is compatible with acrylic, styrene-acrylic and vinyl-acrylic dispersions as well as with vinyl acetate widely used in the sector of paints and varnishes. The product is also compatible with the widely applied rheology modifiers (cellulose derivatives, polyurethane-based compounds).
It is recommended to use the product in the amount of 0.1-1.5% (w/w).
