ROKAfenol N8P7 is a non-ionic surfactant (alkoxylated nonylphenols). It is an opalescent, turbid or clear oily liquid with a straw or light yellow colour. The commercial product contains approximately 100% of the active substance, and solidifies at a temperature below -20°C.
The product shows good solubility in water, but only up to 31°C because it becomes turbid when heated. The reason for this is its low cloud point which is between 31-33°C.
ROKAfenol N8P7 is a component of washing, laundry and cleaning agents. It acts as an emulsifier and dispersant, thus improving detergent properties. The product has low foaming properties. In some formulations, it is used as an anti-foaming agent. Its performance parameters do not deteriorate at a low temperature because it is active in cold water. It is also active in hard water, and in acidic, neutral and alkaline baths.
It has wetting and detergent properties whose action is effective at high electrolyte concentrations, and in an oxidizing and reducing environment. ROKAfenol N8P7 may be used in a mixture with other non-ionic auxiliary agents, and together with anionic and cationic agents.
In the metallurgical industry, it is highly effective in mixtures with mineral acids and corrosion inhibitors used for cleaning, degreasing and etching metal products. In addition, it has a wetting effect, and accelerates the cleaning process.
The European Union provisions, included in Regulation (EC) No 648/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 31 March 2004 on detergents, limit its use for industrial cleaning, textile and leather treatment, and metalworking in closed circuits where the working fluid is recycled or incinerated.
