Ecological energy sources are currently a hot topic. One such source is sunlight, which can be converted into electricity. The technology behind this process is the rapidly developing photovoltaics. Solar energy is becoming increasingly popular. With it we are able to power such small devices as calculators, and watches, but also parking meters, and lamps. With the right equipment, solar energy can heat water or provide heating for our houses.
In order for the current coming from solar energy to reach our sockets, sunlight must be processed by special installations. Their basic elements are photovoltaic cells, which are combined into modules and then into photovoltaic panels. Such structures can often be seen on roofs or near buildings powered by solar energy. Specialised products, including some chemical compounds, are required to manufacture these devices. They include silicon tetrachloride, which is used to produce semiconductors.
