Description

Active Play AS H 8011 is another one-component polyurethane adhesive based on diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI). Alike previous versions of the adhesive, its technology is based on aromatic isocyanates. Active Play AS H 8011 is a ready for use product, not resistant to degrading UV radiation. That is why it is recommended that the elements combined with Active Play AS H 8011 be precisely secured with the additional UV resistant layer or coating. The sunlight causes colour degradation, especially in the case of using brighter colours of granules, e.g. EPDM or SBR. One-component polyurethane adhesive can be used to produce elements from rubber granules, e.g. hot and cold formed SBR and EPDM.

The use of the adhesive should be preceded by the so-called rubber granules moisture with the use of pre-polymer. Before applying, given granules should be mixed with Active Play AS H 8011 in a special mixer. Then moistened granules should be put in a mould so that the curing reaction takes place during press pressure both under the influence of temperature and moisten. The properties of the element formed depend on granulation of rubber granules, composition and the amount of Active Play AS H 8011 used, while in the case of forming – also on the compression level while curing.

Relatively often the adhesive is subject to a hot curing process at high temperatures from 90 to 150°C. The temperature is selected depending on the technology used. An increased temperature and moisture shorten the total curing time. Too high temperature may cause overheating of the adhesive, and as a result, lower quality of the final product on account of its increased brittleness. In order to obtain more stable and durable colour, the curing technology with lower temperature and higher amount of moisture should be used. It can be obtained by adding a suitable amount of water to granules at the moment of mixing it with one-component adhesive. The total forming time depends, for instance, on the temperature, thickness of the layer and humidity. The curing process can be accelerated by using water, catalyser or a solution consisting of both of these components.

One-component Active Play AS H 8011 adhesive is a completely safe product for the natural environment because it does not contain organic solvents.

Main application advantages of the product:

  • Easy application of the adhesive to be combined with various rubber granules
  • A wide application range of the adhesive because of the possibility of both hot and cold processing
  • High temperature resistance – the ability to use temperatures from 90°C to 150°C to produce the elements formed
  • Increased humidity enables to shorten the process of curing the surface or the element
  • Colour stability can be obtained at a lower temperature and higher humidity

Technical properties of the product:

  • Adhesive consumption: 5-17 % depending on the amount of granulate and fraction
  • Density at 25°C: 1.15 – 1.17 g/ml
  • Dynamic viscosity at 25°C: 700 – 1500 mPa⋅s
  • Content of NCO groups: 8.0 – 10.0 % (m/m)
  • Features at 25°C: clear liquid of dark amber colour
