Organometallic salts, also known as organometallic compounds, contain bonds between metal atoms and carbon atoms. Grignard compounds (organometallic salts of Li and Mg) are among the most important reagents used in organic synthesis. Common organic ligands are carbonyl (e.g. CO), alkyl (e.g. CH₃), alkoxy (e.g. OR), phosphoryl (e.g. PR₃) ligands. Organometallic salts are widely used in industry as detergents in professional washing and machinery cleaning.
