Active Play AS H 8008 - one-component adhesive dedicated to the production of cold- and hot-molded elements from rubber granulates: EPDM and SBR

Active Play AS H 8008 is a high-quality polyether prepolymer based on MDI isocyanate with low functionality (2.0–2.2), designed for demanding industrial applications. This one-component polyurethane adhesive is available as a clear liquid with a color ranging from colorless to light yellow. The product is characterized by a viscosity at 25°C in the range of 2500–4000 mPas and an NCO content of 9.0-10.0%.

Active Play AS H 8008 has been developed specifically for the production of cold- and hot-molded elements from EPDM and SBR rubber granulates, including materials derived from recycling processes. Thanks to its properties, it provides a reliable solution for creating flexible, durable, and safe rubber surfaces and components.

SBR granules, obtained through tire recycling, are a durable material that is resistant to abrasion and weather conditions, yet flexible, safe, and non-absorbent. They provide excellent sound and vibration damping, making them an ideal raw material for the production of safety mats, paving tiles, road components, and sound- and vibration-insulating mats.

Efficiency and Ease of Application

Before use, the pigmented Active Play AS H 8008 prepolymer must be mixed; then, the SBR rubber granules are moistened with it and molded into the desired shape. Under pressure from the press and the influence of temperature, curing occurs through the action of heat and moisture, ensuring a durable and flexible bond.

The properties of the molded part (e.g., a panel) depend on the size and composition of the rubber granules, the amount of single-component polyurethane adhesive, and, in the case of a molding process, also on the degree of compression during curing. The curing process takes place at temperatures ranging from 70°C to 150°C, and by appropriately selecting the temperature and humidity, the polymerization time can be significantly reduced.

Durability and Safety

The combination of the prepolymer with SBR granules creates a bond with high stiffness while maintaining elasticity, ensuring excellent mechanical properties of the finished components. The product does not contain volatile organic solvents and has not been classified as posing a risk to the environment according to Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008, as amended.
