EXOplast OTE4 is a non-ionic surfactant intended for use in the paints and coatings industry. A characteristic feature of this product is the ability to extend the open time of paints.
At room temperature, EXOplast OTE4 appears as a clear and viscous liquid with a yellow color. It has good solubility in water and in low aliphatic alcohols. Its freezing point is below -20°C. The active substance content is in the range of 94-96%.
EXOplast OTE4 is used as an effective factor regulating the open time of the paint coating during the drying process. It affects the behavior of the paint during application, making it easier to apply and improving its flow. Moreover, the agent strengthens the water resistance of the coating and improves the hydrophobicity of the formulation compared to preparations that do not contain EXOplast OTE4.
The addition of EXOplast OTE4 visibly slows down the paint drying process. Thanks to this, the time during which it is possible to repaint and correct defects in the freshly applied coating is significantly extended.
The use of the product also reduces the risk of cracks appearing on the freshly formed coating. EXOplast OTE4 shows very good compatibility with the main paint components, such as polymer dispersions, pigments and auxiliaries. It does not result in deterioration of the paint’s stability during storage.
The product is also characterized by relatively low VOC and SVOC content, so it can be an alternative to highly volatile agents, such as propylene glycol.
Recommended use level is 0.5 – 3% in the finished paint formulation.
EXOplast OTE4 is a product not classified according to Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 [CLP/GHS].
ADR/RID, ADN, IMDG, ICAO/IATA transport regulations do not apply to the transport of this product.
The surfactant complies with the biodegradability criteria established in Regulation (EC) No. 648/2004 on detergents.
