EXOplast OTE2 is a non-ionic surfactant dedicated for the paint and varnish industry. It is used as an additive to extend the paint open time. It is available as a colourless, clear liquid with the active substance content of at least 99.5% It is well soluble in water and low aliphatic alcohols. It solidifies at temperatures below -20°C.
Its main function is to adjust the open time of a drying paint coating. In a formulation, it prevents the paint from drying too quickly, extending the time during which it is possible to repaint and make corrections to the freshly applied coating.
EXOplast OTE2 also minimizes the risk of cracks appearing on a freshly formed paint layer. The product is fully compatible with formulation components, such as polymer dispersions, pigments and auxiliary agents. It does not cause any deterioration of the paint's stability during storage.
EXOplast OTE2 is also used in the production of water-based pigment concentrates. In this application, the product works perfectly as a humectant, i.e. a compound capable of binding water molecules. Its use prevents the colourant from drying quickly in colouring machines, thanks to which it retains its functional properties longer.
EXOplast OTE2 has a very low content of volatile (VOC) and semi-volatile (SVOC) organic compounds (<0.1%). This makes it a very good alternative to the commonly used propylene glycol. This feature predisposes the product to be used in eco-friendly paints that meet the most stringent requirements regarding the VOC and SVOC content.
It is recommended to use the product at the concentration of 0.5-3.0% in the finished paint formulation and 1.0-10.0% in the pigment concentrates.
EXOplast OTE2 is not classified according to Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 [CLP/GHS].
ADR/RID, ADN, IMDG and ICAO/IATA regulations on transport do not apply to the shipments of this product.
The surfactant complies with the biodegradability criteria as set out in Regulation (EC) No. 648/2004 on detergents.
