Degreasing agents are preparations that dissolve greasy soils and facilitate their removal.
These are mainly surfactants and their mixtures, the effect of which is to emulsify grease and remove it. Degreasing is a process that prepares for further operations, such as painting, dyeing or galvanic coating. Pollutants can adversely affect the quality of the coatings applied, creating irregularities, streaks and lack of adhesion to the painted surfaces.
Degreasing preparations have good wetting, emulsifying and dispersing properties, which facilitate dirt removal. Degreasing products may contain additives such as corrosion inhibitors to prevent rust after cleaning.
Degreasing agents are used in tanning for leather degreasing, in the metallurgical industry for the preparation of metals for galvanic coating, in textiles, as well as in household and industrial chemicals – for washing and cleaning.
