ROKAfenol D22 is a non-ionic surfactant from the group of ethoxylated dodecylphenols.The product is mainly used as an emulsifier and dispersant.
The commercial product has the form of a paste or wax of white to light straw colour. It solidifies at about 34°C. It has a high cloud point in the temperature range of 71÷76°C for a brine solution with a concentration of 10% NaCl in water. ROKAfenol D22 dissolves well in water without the need for heating.
ROKAfenol D22 has very good detergency for various types of fibres. Thanks to its excellent dispersing and emulsifying properties, it effectively supports the processes of industrial washing of fabrics. The product is characterised by good wettability, at the same time it increases the hydrophilicity of the treated fibres.
ROKAfenol D22 is resistant to elevated temperatures and high concentrations of electrolytes. Thus, it can be applied in aggressive conditions of use, e.g. when washing at high temperatures and as a component of lubricants for casting bars and dies for the metal industry.
Good solubility in water, resistance to oxidizing and reducing agents, as well as stability in acids and alkali make this product an excellent detergent, emulsifier and dispersant.
Due to its non-ionic nature, Rokafenol D22 forms compatible systems with other non-ionic auxiliary agents and with anionic and cationic surfactants. This allows the creation of a wide range of new products with many possible applications.
In the presence of high concentrations of electrolytes, the product can be used in the process of alkaline metal cleaning. ROKAfenol D22 is also effective in metallurgical processes. It acts as a wetting agent in compositions with corrosion inhibitors, in acid pickling baths, and as an emulsifier in emulsion cleaning operations. The product is also used as a wetting agent in the production of polyester resins.
ROKAfenol D22 can be used in the emulsion polymerization process as a universal non-ionic emulsifier. In systems with anionic agents, the product provides excellent particle size control of the resulting polymer dispersion. In addition, it significantly improves the stability of the dispersion and its resistance to the presence of external media, such as electrolytes or organic solvents.
ROKAfenol D22 is recommended for a wide range of acrylic and styrene-acrylic dispersions, vinyl acetate homo- and copolymers, as well as styrene-butadiene latexes. The recommended concentration is 0.5-3% of the total dispersion.
ROKAfenol D22 is also used as an emulsifier for the production of bituminous masses and for emulsifying asphalts. It is also an emulsifying additive in the production of polyester resins.
