Rokopol iPol is a polymer dispersion in a reactive polyether polyol. The product is a special polyol intended for the production of high-quality HR foams and CMHR flame-retardant foams. Rokopol iPol significantly increases the hardness of the material without the need to use styrene-acrylonitrile (SAN) polyols. Thanks to this, the content of volatile substances (VOC) is lower, while maintaining a significantly improved fire resistance.

Rokopol iPol enables the production of foams with a wide range of densities and different levels of hardness. It can also be used for the production of CME foams for high resilience with a reduced content of flame retardants.

Rokopol iPol is a polymer dispersion in a reactive polyether polyol with a white colour. This type of polyol is characterized by relatively low emission, viscosity and low hydroxyl value, with a content of 10% solids. The product is a special polyol intended for the production of high-quality HR foams and CMHR fire-retardant foams. This type of foam is characterized by reduced emission of volatile organic compounds (VOC) and improved long-term physical and mechanical properties in comparison to commonly available HR solutions. The product also enables the production of a full range of densities of high-resistant and non-flammable foam using only liquid flame-retardants (excluding melamine).

Rokopol iPol is used to manufacture, among others, flexible foams which are the basis for the production of HR mattresses and upholstery  in the furniture industry. With the use of this polyol, the moulded foams are also produced, which are used in seats in the automotive industry.

Main application advantages of the product:

  • solids content 10%,
  • the possibility of producing HR foams in a wide range of densities (from 25 to 60 kg / m3),
  • possibility of producing HR and CMHR foams in the range of hardness from 1.5 to 3.5 kPa, depending on foam density,
  • the possibility of producing fire retardant foams (CMHR) with a reduced content of flame retardants (due to a different type of solid parts, without styrene-acrylonitrile).

Mechanical properties of foams made using Rokopol iPol:

  • impressive comfort factor – SAG factor up to 3,3 (comparable to latex mattresses) and 20-30% more in comparison to foams produced by traditional HR technologies,
  • very high resilience of the foam, 60-70%, compared to standard HR solutions, which have a resilience of 50-60%,
  • the possibility of obtaining CMHR foam meeting the flammability criteria CAL TB 133, BS5852 and CRIB 5, produced using only a liquid flame retardant without the need to use melamine, which worsens the mechanical properties of the foam,
  • up to 75% lower volatile organic compound (VOC) emission compared to SAN polyols:-

         – no monomeric styrene,

         – no monomeric acrylonitrile;

  • high mechanical strength of the obtained foam:
    •  minor loss of hardness, density and resilience over time, compared to available HR technologies.

Thanks to the above properties, the use of Rokopol iPol product guarantees increased production efficiency. This efficiency is manifested through:

  • rectangular shape of the foam block – less production waste,
  • uniform density and hardness of the foam block,
  • good initial durability that allows the foam block to be operated immediately after foaming.
