Active Play AS H 8008.A is a single-component, MDI-based polyurethane adhesive designed for the permanent bonding of SBR and EPDM rubber granules. The product is ideal for the installation of sports, recreational, and safety surfaces, including surfaces for playgrounds, gyms, and fitness centers.
At 25°C, the adhesive is a colorless to amber-colored liquid. It has an NCO content of 9.0–10.0% and a dynamic viscosity of 2500–4000 mPas. It contains no volatile organic solvents and produces a bond with good stiffness while maintaining its flexibility.
Active Play AS H 8008.A is a prepolymer polyurethane adhesive designed for bonding SBR and EPDM granules used in sports, recreational, and shock-absorbing surfaces. The product provides good adhesion to rubber granules, bond stability, and the flexibility required for surfaces exposed to heavy use.
Thanks to the combination of stiffness and elasticity in the bond, the adhesive enables the creation of durable rubber layers used, among other places, in playgrounds, fitness centers, gyms, and sports and recreational facilities. The absence of volatile organic solvents is an additional advantage in applications where reducing VOC emissions is critical.
The recommended product consumption ranges from 5 to 20% and depends on the quantity, type, and size of the granules used. Dry SBR or EPDM granules must be thoroughly mixed with the adhesive in a suitable mixer, and their compatibility with the product should be verified in advance. Temperature and humidity affect curing time—higher values shorten it, while low temperatures can prolong the cross-linking process.
For outdoor applications, work should be carried out on a dry surface, under suitable weather conditions, and after checking the forecast. It is not recommended to install the surface during rainfall, immediately after rainfall, if there is a risk of rainfall within 5 hours after completion of work, at ambient temperatures above 30°C, or when the substrate temperature is more than 3°C below the current dew point. Contact between the adhesive and water may cause it to foam and lose its performance properties.
An adhesive layer based on aromatic MDI isocyanates may exhibit limited resistance to UV radiation. In the case of light-colored EPDM granules, this may lead to discoloration of the surface. Color stability is also influenced by the quality and type of EPDM granules used.
