They are characterised by density in the range of 16-80 kg/m3, and a hardness in the range between 1 and 5 kPa. Moreover, they have a breaking strength exceeding 80 kPa, and elongation at break reaching 100%. A subgroup in standard foams is formed by HLB foam (High Load Bearing Foam) – which has a high density and hardness, and is used for packaging.
Standard foams are used in the furniture industry for manufacturing mattresses and upholstered furniture. They are also popular in the automotive industry for production of cockpits, false ceilings, seats, head restraints and bumpers.
