Active Play AS H 8008_LF is a single-component, prepolymer polyurethane adhesive based on diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI), designed for the professional bonding of SBR and EPDM rubber granules. The product is used in the construction of sports, recreational, and safety surfaces, including surfaces for playgrounds, gyms, and fitness centers.
At 25°C, the adhesive is a colorless to amber-colored liquid. It has an NCO group content of 9.0–10.0% and a dynamic viscosity of 2500–4000 mPas. It contains no volatile organic solvents, forms a bond with good stiffness while maintaining flexibility, and exhibits increased resistance to moisture in the air and from the substrate.
Active Play AS H 8008_LF is a professional polyurethane adhesive designed for the permanent bonding of SBR and EPDM granules used in sports, recreational, and safety surfaces. The product provides good adhesion to rubber granules, bond stability, and flexibility in layers exposed to heavy use.
Active Play AS H 8008_LF variant is characterized by increased resistance to moisture in the air and the substrate, which reduces the risk of unexpected, undesirable adhesive blistering during application. As a result, it helps ensure a uniform, durable surface made of rubber granules.
The recommended adhesive consumption ranges from 5 to 20% and depends on the type and particle size of the granules. During application, use dry, compatible SBR or EPDM granules that have been thoroughly mixed with the adhesive. Work must be carried out on a dry substrate and under suitable weather conditions. Application is not recommended during rainfall, immediately after rainfall, at ambient temperatures above 30°C, or when the substrate temperature is more than 3°C below the current dew point temperature.
The MDI-based aromatic isocyanate adhesive layer may exhibit limited resistance to UV radiation, which, in the case of light-colored EPDM granules, may lead to discoloration of the surface. Color stability is also influenced by the quality and type of EPDM granules used.
Properties and applications
Adhesive Properties:
enables a durable bond between SBR and EPDM rubber granules,
produces a joint with good stiffness while maintaining the surface’s elasticity,
ensures adequate adhesion to rubber granules,
contributes to the stability and integrity of the finished rubber layer,
it helps create a shock-absorbing layer resistant to service loads,
it reduces emissions of volatile organic compounds thanks to its VOC-free formula,
exhibits increased resistance to moisture in the air and the substrate,
reduces the risk of unexpected and undesirable adhesive blistering,
requires application on a dry substrate,
may cause light-colored EPDM granules to discolor when exposed to UV radiation.
Applications:
playground surfaces,
sports surfaces,
recreational surfaces,
fitness center surfaces,
gym surfaces,
flexible surfaces made of SBR and EPDM rubber granules,
