Cell hardeners are substances added to flexible foams, increasing their hardness by incorporating themselves into the foam structure, and increasing cross-linking.

The resulting closed cell foams  have a dense surface and are resistant to water.  They are also resistant to tearing or stretching and they do not wear off.

These additives are used for foams used as packaging materials, cushioning and insulating products, mainly for manufacturing protective inserts, foam tapes, exercise mats and industrial gaskets.
