Rokopol® vTec 8940 (Polyester-polyether polyol)

Rokopol® vTec 8940 j is a blend of polyester and polyether polyols. It is a homogeneous liquid, free of mechanical impurities, that may exhibit an opalescent appearance. It contains antioxidants (no BHT). It has a hydroxyl number in the range of 140–160 mg KOH/g and a dynamic viscosity at 25°C in the range of 1,500–2,500 mPas.

The product was developed as part of a research and development project co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund.

Rokopol® vTec 8940 is used in the production of viscoelastic polyurethane foams using both continuous (slabstock) and batch processes. When used with appropriately selected additives (catalysts, silicones, blowing agents), it is used to produce blocks of viscoelastic foam with a rectangular cross-section and a height of up to 80 cm.The product was developed as part of a research and development project co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund.Key application advantages of Rokopol® vTec 8940 polyol:

Rokopol vTec 8940 contains recycled PET raw material with a minimum content of 19% in the product (EN ISO 14021:2016) and hydrogenated castor oil,

a simple starter formulation based on TDI80 or MDI isocyanate,

the ability to produce foam with very high air flow using standard silicone,

the ability to produce foams with densities ranging from 35 to 60 kg/m³ and hardness values ranging from 1.0 to 3.0 kPa,

the foam’s tensile strength exceeds 150 kPa and its relative elongation at break exceeds 250%,

the foam’s recovery time is 5–20 s,

excellent permanent deformation characteristics allowing for high compression of the foam during transport,

the foam has a pleasant feel.

The most common applications of Rokopol® vTec 8940 polyol:

viscoelastic (visco, Memory Foam), flexible, and gel polyurethane foams,

mattresses and pillows with enhanced comfort (furniture industry).
