Chemal BP-261PO

Chemal BP-261PO belongs to the group of nonionic block copolymers of ethylene oxide and propylene oxide (Chemal BP-), INCI name – Poloxamer 181. Chemal BP-261PO is one of the low-foaming and anti-foaming products which is EO terminated. It is widely used in industrial detergents for institutional and household cleaning as well as for some industrial processes.

The product is a slightly viscous almost colorless liquid. Chemal BP-261PO has an active substance content of about 100% and exhibits an aqueous cloud point of ~ 24°C. The HLB value of Chemal BP-261PO is 3.0 and it is often used as a co-emulsifier.

The product is a moderate molecular weight polymer with a specific, bifunctional structure, indicating that it contains two hydrophilic groups. This feature distinguishes the Chemal BP- series from other nonionic surfactants and defines their properties. The product has moderate hydrophobicity and good degreasing and wetting properties of hard surfaces. For this reason, it is frequently used as component of professional dishwashing chemicals, formulations for industrial bottle washing, and metal degreasing preparations.

Chemal BP-261PO is used in Clean in Place systems, e.g., as a component of cleaning formulations in breweries. Thanks to the anti-foaming properties already achieved at low temperatures, it causes a lowering of the foaming of washing baths in the presence of proteins or starch. This chemistry is resistant to hard water, dedicated to neutral or slightly alkaline formulations.

Its anti-foaming properties are used in the paper and food industry as well as in all production processes where foaming of wastewater occurs. Thanks to its properties, this product reduces the surface tension between the liquid and the air improving the "drainage" of the foam, which results in its reduction.
