Raw materials for the production of baby care products

Chemical raw materials for the production of children’s cosmetics include a wide range of ingredients used in products such as: washing gels and foams, lotions, emulsions, milks and protective creams. The diversity of these raw materials allows for the creation of safe and effective formulations tailored to the needs of children’s exceptionally sensitive skin. The most important groups of raw materials used in the production of baby care products include:

  • surfactants,
  • emulsifiers,
  • softeners
  • rheological agents,
  • solubilisers and dispersants,
  • functional additives.

Gentle cleansers for sensitive baby skin

Surfactants are surface-active agents, chemical raw materials responsible for cleaning, purifying and foaming properties. The PCC Group offers a wide range of amphoteric, anionic and non-ionic surfactants, which are characterised by their mild action and low irritation potential. Examples of such raw materials for the production of children’s cosmetics are ingredients based on betaines or sulfosuccinates, such as products from the ROKAmina®, ROKwinol and EXOsoft series.

The key to perfect consistency – emulsifiers in cosmetics production

Emulsifiers are key chemical raw materials for the production of emulsions for children – they enable the combination of the aqueous and oil phases, ensuring the stability and appropriate consistency of the cosmetic. Recipes for baby care products use emulsifiers with high dermatological tolerance, based on, among others, alkoxylated fatty acids, glycerides, betaines and alkyl ether sulphates. These raw materials for the production of baby care products allow the creation of light and delicate formulas suitable for everyday use.

How to add delicacy to children’s cosmetics?

Softeners, i.e. humectants and emollients, are chemical raw materials used in the production of moisturising cosmetics for children. They support skin regeneration, protect it from drying out and help rebuild its natural protective barrier. Emollients used in the production of children’s care products reduce the risk of irritation and give cosmetics soothing properties, which is particularly important in lotions, creams and protective emulsions.

Rheology in children’s cosmetics – comfort, structure, stability

Thickeners and rheological agents are raw materials used in the production of children’s cosmetics that affect the consistency of cosmetics, ensuring their appropriate viscosity and stability — they allow the creation of light gels, thick emulsions or stable foams. It is important that thickeners used in children’s products are compatible with delicate surfactants and do not cause discomfort during application.

How to achieve transparency and stability in children’s formulations?

Solubilisers and dispersants are chemical raw materials used in the production of children’s care cosmetics, enabling the stable combination of difficult-to-mix ingredients such as essential oils and fragrances. Thanks to them, the production of children’s cosmetics allows for clear, stable liquids, mists and emulsions without the risk of separation.

Advanced quality control in the production of children’s cosmetics

The chemical raw materials used in the production of baby care cosmetics must meet strict European safety requirements. These include compliance with REACH regulations, GMP rules for cosmetic ingredients and standards resulting from Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009. Raw materials for the production of baby care products are also subject to detailed quality control and toxicological assessment, which guarantees the safety of products intended for the youngest children.
